BIOGRAPHY
“After transitions from retail, to teaching filmmaking at three colleges from Waco to San Antonio, Scott found himself laid off as a result of the pandemic. He used this moment as an opportunity, forcing himself to get extremely creative with how he pursued this second lease on life, music, and his newly-found relationship with God. A season of hard-fledged, messy introspection led Scott to chase the kind of music that connects truth, music, and the soul in a way that can only be raw, honest, and vulnerable. Not pretending. Not accusing. As a result, he stripped down his pop/rock sound and grounded himself in a more folk-centered approach with lush string and woodwind arrangements to compliment his bright, colorful, and airy voice.”
““It might be the best video, and song, to come out of Austin in the first half of 2022,” Peter Blackstock from the Austin-American Statesman wrote in praise of “L.A.,” the opening track on Scott Strickland’s self-titled debut album. Hailing from Nacogdoches, Texas, accidental musician Scott Strickland now calls Austin home.”
